Yesterday we went to the Park...one of those last things to get in before school starts next week. This particular park is a bit newer and is "equal access"...my kids love it. Anyway, I was reminded of something that happened there probably about a year ago...and got a good giggle out of it...thought I would share with you too...I had recorded it elsewhere, and am copying it over...
Anyway, to the real story here. We were the only ones there for a little while and then a dad shows up with his two kids and their dog. Although Josh is still afraid of dogs, this one really didn’t follow us or hardly even acknowledge us much as all (Josh was still careful to stay on the opposite end of the park though…just in case). The little girl did manage at one point to coax this dog up onto the playground, and even up the stairs to the curly slide and as she started to go down, she even talked this dog into following her down the slide. This dog started to realize that he was moving, and sliding, you could see it in his eyes, and he was not going to stay so the dog bailed over the side of the slide, pretty near the top. Now Jake just happened to be running past the slide at just the same moment and this dog fell right on top of Jake…not on his head, but kind of grazing the front of him and on his legs. Both this dog and Jake were knocked to the ground, momentarily stunned, and then the dog ran off. As I watched Jake, he looked at the dog, looked at himself, and then looked at the sky. You could see the wheels turning as he was trying to fathom just how a dog had fallen out of the sky right on top of him!! It truly isn’t every day that you are running around and have a dog fall on top of you!! Gives new meaning to the phrase “It’s raining cats and dogs”.
Jake's just fine...no permanent damage from the dog. But this is one of our favorite stories to talk about. Hope we brought you a smile today!!
