Jake says...

I am often amazed at the things that I hear come out of Jake. It is quite common for him to ask how something works, and when he understands it, he starts with a "well, what if..." and makes up some really incredible story about what might happen if you just changed the circumstances just a little.
He is really quite inventive with the sentences that he has to write with his spelling words each week. He likes to challenge himself and see how many words he can include in just one sentence. We've had some really interesting ones about birds, or knights, or jets or just about anything exploding.
Last year for journal writing, he had some really great sentences (I've been wanting to share these for some time). Jake says...

If I found a magic wand I would turn my sister into a frog. It would be funny.
If I had 10 arms I would clean up my room super fast. I would be worn out too!
If I ruled the world I would make my brother hit himself. It would be fun.

These are just my favorites, but you should see the pictures that go along with them.
At Parent/Teacher conferences this month, his teacher included some writing assignments in his take home folder. I was impressed with the thought process. Jake says...

Once there (was) a pencil and a paper and the pencil and the pencil drawed on the paper and the teacher was a pen so she seperated every fight until she was retired so they had a principal and he was a jackhammer and he jackhammered the school down.

I asked him how he thought this one up. He shrugged and said it just was something he had been thinking about.

To quote Dr Seuss. "Oh the thinks you can think..."
