The time is almost here...

I keep waking up and thinking about school getting ready to start. I keep hearing that voice in my head--it's Nemo, saying "First day of school, first day of school, come on Dad, First day of school..." and so on. Monday was actually the first day that I thought I could be ready to send the kids back to school, but now that it's another day, I'm not so sure.
We have done some really fun things this summer, just me and my kids. We've been baseball playing, softball swinging, swimming and diving board diving. We've been reading, and cooking, water playing and bike riding, snowcone-eating and birthday celebrating. We've visited some fun places...the zoo, Heise Hot Springs, Island Park, Yellowstone, Lava Hot Springs, and grandma's in Logan. They've helped with some house projects, and learned to do chores. We've watched movies, and had lots of yummy treats with their library prizes. The wonder of it all is that we didn't do anything extravagant, or go anywhere out of this world. We had fun...the simple, old-fashioned kind.
We've had our share of teasing and fighting---which I definitly won't miss, and resulted in a few "quiet time" afternoons, but I know one little sister who will desperately miss her older brothers and sister because her mom just won't know how to play as well as they do.
Although I will still have two of my buddies with me all the day long, neither one of them goes far without me, I think I am going to miss my other three friends when they head back to school next Monday.
