Campaign 2011

No such thing as a dull moment at this house. Instead of easing ourselves into Junior High, taking it easy for a year and feeling things out, figuring out how everything is supposed to work, Annie decided to run for 7th Grade Class President. Nothing like starting things with a BANG!! It was a good experience for her. She had to come up with a few ideas to better her school--her dad helped with those. She had to do posters, and have an interview, and even give a speech/skit in front of the 7th grade class. And, although I'm a bit biased, I think she did a great job. Her speech really caught everyone's attention...especially becuase she used an air horn to simulate the sound for the TaylorView Voting System (she did play on the Emergency Broadcasting System), and it was very creative considering the other candidates gave straightforward speeches.
In the end, there were 8 candidates, and the only boy running won. We learned that boys will vote for boys, but they won't vote for girls. She's okay with it, and said, "well, I've got 5 more years to win." Count on it, she'll be in next time around!!
