Stop # 2--Paris

After London, we got up early, boarded the train and rode the Chunnel over to Paris.  We immediately felt the difference in the two countries--especially because of the difference from English to French, which none of us spoke. And also that there wasn't really anyone who was willing to help us.  France might be a nice place, and Paris is okay, but the people who live there certainly weren't very nice--just ask Jon about the little old lady who let him have it on the bus...
Regardless, we did see some great, once-in-a-lifetime things...

This is the Louvre.  It is impossible to describe how immense this art museum is unless you actually go there.  Or how many pieces of art are actually inside it unless you see it for yourself.
Although the painting in itself is quite small (in comparison to others we saw), and the room was quite crowded, we did get to see the Mona Lisa.  The kids will find, one day, that they will appreciate this experience, because they didn't on this day.  They only wanted to find somewhere to sit and I heard a good deal of complaining in my ear until...
We got outside, and then the boys were so content to run around, pick up sticks and rocks and dump them in the drain.  (This actually became a very familiar sight as we traveled all through Europe).  The rest of us, intentionally or not, managed to have pretty good naps on the lawn.
Yes, it is really a pigeon on her head.  She was following Eli & Lincoln, and next thing I knew...
Jake got close enough to the pigeon lady (pictured at left) that she put bird seed on his head--he immediately had a friend.  He did say it hurt when the pigeon would peck his head

Paris streets really were beautiful--and the buildings too--and the river...everything was just starting to get green.  And we had wonderful sunshine the whole trip.

Eiffel Tower--it was bigger than I expected and didn't disappoint.

We were there long enough to see the lights go on.

The front of our hotel.  We probably should have been a little worried with the boarded up front window.  But, I did tell Ian we were open to trying a hostel.

Although we were late, we did find the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  Did you know the ward does Sunday School in French, English, and Mandarin?

The Paris Metro.  Quite the experiences we had down there.  From the time we saw the scary lady with a knife in her pants, and Ian telling us to "move now", to the time when Jake decided he wouldn't get on the crowded subway car and backing up--we almost left him on the platform!
Good times in Paris!!
Next up...Germany!
