Heart Attack...gasp!

It's come and gone once again. Thanks to inspiration from Miranda's blog, and an empty afternoon, we were feeling the love at our house.

And, yes, Jon even pulled through this year.

Little does he know, that as much as he complains about buying flowers--they just die!! he says--it means all the more to me when he does do it, because I know he hates doing it. Is that some kind of twisted logic or what?

I also did a fun thing with the kids this year, something I think will be worth repeating. My kids practically drool over the bakery display case at Fred Meyer. We always visit the bakery when we go there because Emma knows that they give out free cookies. I swear they really do have to clean the glass after we leave. Well, I decided to go buy 5 different desserts this year and surprise the kids. Lest you think I didn't get one for Jon, I made a special trip to Baskin Robbins because he said that the only thing he wanted for Valentine's Day was Love Potion 31--a hand packed quart. Anyway, I hid the desserts and when dinner was almost over, I went out and brought in the desserts under the biggest bowl I could find. I set it on the counter and let them stare at it until everyone was done eating. After bringing it to the table, everyone got to guess what they thought was inside. Then we did the big REVEAL. Oh, the sight of those eyes when they saw what was underneath and then the smiles. We had to cut everything so everyone could try what they wanted. So FUN!! I think we'll try different variations of desserts for the next few years. Going out to eat? Bahh--give us the desserts anytime!
