Just a quick update on the fishing in Alaska. Jon is having a blast! He told me last night that they took in 40 pounds of salmon fillets to be frozen just last night; and that doesn't include what they already have! I've been saving a few recipes for cooking fish, but it sounds like I'm going to have to get serious about it! He said that the first day they were fishing, on the first hole, they shared it with bald eagles who were eating fish from the banks. And the second hole, they shared with the bears downstream. He said they were fishing away, and down river and across the river a bear walked out on an old fallen log and started swiping fish right out of the river. Not long after that one left, a momma bear and her two cubs came out the same spot and got themselves some fish to eat too! Of course he didn't get any pictures, but the kids were very impressed. Since then, the only bears they have seen have been from the truck; and easily spooked when they get close. He says it's very wet, but he's stayed warm. He's having a great time!
At dinner on Tuesday night, Annie turned and commented that she was starting to miss Dad. To which Josh quickly agreed. Jake sat and thought for a minute and with a quick shrug he said "Not me.". AFter I told Jon, he's decided he needs to work on Jake a little bit! Dad did call early enough for everyone to talk to him last night, and luckily Jake did his fair share of talking...maybe he's changed his mind. I know I miss him; I'm still glad he's gotten to go, but am looking forward to having him home!
