The Eastern Idaho State Fair!

Guess what time it is? It is one of the most favorite times of year in the Maughan household! The Eastern Idaho State Fair. We have decided that going to the fair is one of our most favorite family traditions. I know the kids love going on the rides (although they only got 2 this year). But we have lots of other favorites too...


*walking through all the animal barns...it was great watching the goats try to eat Emma's shoelaces. She loved all the animals, even the sheep that Baa'ed right in her face and scared her to death.


*the big Longhorn Bulls...I think they were Josh's favoite, although he and Jake were quite interested in seeing the regular cows get milked too.

*we stopped and watched some of the animals being auctioned this year; we were all amazed at how fast that auctioneer talked.

*The photography exhibit is always my favorite, and it was even better this year becuase my kids were old enough to walk through it without me paranoid that they would touch anything or knock anything off the walls.

*Last but not least...we love the Fair Food!! We had corn dogs, and the Potato Tornado (a MUST if you are in Idaho, a cross between ruffly potatoe chips, and curly fries), Tiger Ear (in nugget form...much less messy), a Wimpy's burger, teriaki chicken and rice, and our all time favorite Reed's Dairy Ice Cream.

Emma was such a trooper. When she got tired, we layed her stroller back, she pulled up her blanket over her face and she went to sleep. It was lucky for the rest of us, becuase we just weren't quite ready to leave.

We always joke that the crazies in Idaho come out for the fair, and it was true again this year, along with all the smokers (Annie commented on all the smoke in the air, and the young kids smoking), and maybe we'll try not to go on a weekend next year, but a weeknight. But all in all, we have a great time being together at the good ol' state fair and we are already looking forward to it next year too!
